Throughout history, believe it or not, Cannabis has become a quite kindred spirit to creativity.

Many famous artists and musicians that have voiced their cannabis use like Bob Marley, Snoop Dog, Jerry Garcia, Madonna, the list goes on and on. It makes you wonder, does Cannabis help stimulate creativity?

Well, research has identified that creativity is connected to our frontal lobe and cannabis use increases cerebral blood flow to this area, increasing its activity. Alice Flaherty MD, PhD, Educator and Author of The Midnight Disease: The Drive to Write, and The Creative Brain. Flaherty conducted a study at the Department of Neurology at Harvard Medical School to see the effects of Cannabis creativity and divergent thinking.

I will spare the long medical details of the study, but the findings have shown that high THC use may hinder creativity. Which makes sense, I’m sure all cannabis users have been to that point where you’ve found yourself glued to the couch and now youre ready for a giant pizza and some sleep.

But, in lower doses it could help people who are less creative become more. Keep in mind that this is a very abstract matter and could vary from person to person so always use cannabis according to how YOU are personally feeling.

Some suggestions from one cannabis enthusiast to another, here are my favorite strains when you’re feeling crafty:

Strawberry Cough: Sativa, abundant terpene-myrcene

Effects: energizing, happy, euphoric

Orangeade: hybrid, abundant terpene-limonene

Effects: Creative, Euphoric, Happy

White Buffalo: Sativa, abundant terpene-caryophyllene

Effects: uplifting, euphoric, energizing.
